Dr. Helvie
presented a radio program on Healing and Touch (WNIS Radio)
in 1987; the Role of Nursing in the Community (ODU Station)
in 1977; a television program on Health Care for the
Homeless (ABC Channel 13) in 1997; and a news segment on
Student Projects for the Homeless ( NBC Channel 10) in
1998.
He was listed as an expert in wellness, community health,
holism, and homelessness in the Media Guide
to Health Care Experts (Sigma Theta
Tau-International Nursing Society) in 1999 and 2000.
He was interviewed for an article in the Virginian Pilot on
“Art as an Outlet for Children’s Feelings about the Gulf
War” in 1991, and for an article in the same newspaper in
1994 on “Stress in Daily Life.”
